To achieve academic success, our schools need to create learning environments that support the social, emotional, and academic learning of each student. This interactive session will share research and practical strategies that build welcoming environments and strong relationships between teachers and students from different cultural backgrounds. Participants will learn why social perspective taking, empathy skills, and high expectations are critical to building a welcoming community in which students can reach their academic potential. The session will also share practical strategies that can will help teachers and students achieve these goals.
